Prof. Sungzoon Cho

Seoul National University, South Korea

Sungzoon Cho is professor of Industrial Engineering Department and the director of Data Mining Center at Seoul National University ( He serves as the chair of the Big Data subcommittee on the Government3.0 Committee of Korean government. He is also on the editorial board of Flexible Services and Manufacturing Journal, International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems and International Journal of Cognitive Biometrics. He was the president of Korea Business Intelligence Data Mining Society from 2009 to 2011. His main areas of research include big data, text mining, machine learning and anomaly detection as well as their applications in manufacturing, marketing, finance, and biometrics. 

He has published more than 150 articles in such journals as Pattern Recognition, Neural Computation, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing, AI in Medicine, Journal of Interactive Marketing, and Computer and Security. He obtained several patents from US and Korea and helped to develop two commercial software products which are the de factor standard in psychiatric clinics around Korea. The companies he has been advising in the area of data analytics include Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, LG Electronics, Hyundai Heavy Industries, POSCO, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, Doosan Infracore, SK Hynix Semiconductor, SK Telecommunication, CJ, and Adobe. He advised 12 PhD and 60 Master students as of September 2015. He teaches Data Mining and Computational Intelligence. 

He has BS and MS in industrial engineering from Seoul National University, MS in computer science from University of Washington, PhD in computer science from University of Maryland. He was an assistant professor of computer science and engineering at POSTECH, Anthony Mason fellow at University of New South Wales, and a visiting scholar at University of Washington Foster School of Business.

Prof. Kazumi Nakamatsu,

School of Human Science and Environment, University of Hyogo, JAPAN

Kazumi Nakamatsu received the Ms. Eng. and Dr. Sci. from Shizuoka University and Kyushu University, Japan, respectively. He is a full Professor at School of Human Science and Environment, University of Hyogo, Japan.
His research interests encompass various kinds of logic and their applications to Computer Science, especially paraconsistent annotated logic programs and their applications. He has developed some paraconsistent annotated logic programs called ALPSN(Annotated Logic Program with Strong Negation), VALPSN(Vector ALPSN), EVALPSN(Extended VALPSN) and bf-EVALPSN (before-after EVALPSN) recently, and applied them to various intelligent systems such as a safety verification based railway interlocking control system and process order control. He is an author of over 150 papers and book chapters, and edited 7 books published by prominent publishers.
Kazumi Nakamatsu has chaired various international conferences, workshops and invited sessions, and he has been a member of numerous international program committees of workshops and conferences in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Reasoning-based Intelligent Systems by Inderscience Publishers(UK) and an editorial board member of many international journals. He has contributed numerous invited lectures at international workshops, conferences, and academic organizations. He also is a recipient of some conference and paper awards. He is a member of Japan AI Society, IEEE, etc.
